bo studied at the arnhem academy of art and design. I am happy to find a good designer who isn’t coming from design academy eindhoven :) please, give me more! for his new collection bo decided to left the computer behind. he ventured into the woods and used the material he found there. he build his products by himself and painted them with white linseed-oil paint.

about matandme: finally an explanation

written by Matylda in lalala

I have to admit that the video embodies amateurism. we did the video on the spur of the moment. 3 takes and the 3rd one was chosen. but I said what I think and have finally an ‘ABOUT’. I like it that way.

marcus tremonto: engineer/designer/artist.. light-lover!

written by Matylda in drawn interviews

milan 2009/

sometimes you see objects you not even realize that you like them. I have seen marcus tremento’s work before but I never paid attention. light and illusion effects are usually not my thing. but he really got me with one of his lights. (it’s the one on the first picture)

so, new york-based treluce design studio by marcus tremonto showed his lightworks at spazio rossana orlandi during milan design week. sliced digital landscapes that reflect the modern age.

pieke bergmans: a suprise in the box

written by Matylda in drawn interviews

milan 2009/

pieke bergmans is a dutch designer, based in amsterdam. pieke presented her new work ‘handle with care’ inspired by the idea of transporting antiques in crates at zona tortona during milan design week .

the crates mean to protect the precious content. she used antiques, put them in custom-made wooden crates and furnished them with ‘handle with care’ and ‘fragile’. basically she makes use of 2 components: the crates and the antiques. by bringing them together she added an extra value to these items. the user is confronted with a surprising moment when he opens the wooden box and unveils the content.

london-based designer simon hasan was one of the designers who took part at design miami’s craft punk performance during the milan design week. It was an event in a partnership with the Italian luxury fashion house fendi.

simon hasan demonstrated the creation process of his leather vases. for ‘beauty and the boiled beast’ he boiled leather, wrapped it on wooden forms, added resin and car paint. I catched him in a busy moment. luckily he had some time to draw for me.
